This has been my go-to summer morning drink: simple to make, bright, and naturally dairy-free. It’s an easy way to enjoy caffeine without milk or cream.

Yes—sparkling coffee is absolutely a thing, and it’s delicious. Combining coffee with carbonated water adds brightness and texture, making a light, fizzy beverage that’s surprisingly satisfying.

How To Make Sparkling Coffee

Make sparkling coffee with espresso, cold brew, or room-temperature brewed coffee. Fill a tall glass with ice, add sparkling water, then gently pour in the coffee or espresso. Stir lightly so you don’t lose too much fizz.

What Should You Add To Sparkling Coffee?

I keep mine simple, but you can add flavor with fresh mint, a twist of lemon, or a splash of flavored syrup. If you prefer sweetened coffee, a small amount of vanilla syrup works well and complements the crisp carbonation.

What Beans Should I Use For Sparkling Coffee?

For a bold, clean flavor I usually use espresso made from medium- to dark-roast beans. Home espresso, concentrated cold brew, or strong brewed coffee all work. Choose beans you enjoy straight—those flavors will come through in a sparkling drink.

Ingredients

  • 2/3 Cup Ice
  • Sparkling Water
  • 3/4 Cup Coffee or 2 shots of Espresso
  • 1 Tablespoon Vanilla Syrup (optional)

Instructions

  • Fill a tall glass with ice. Pour in sparkling water until the glass is about two-thirds full. Add the coffee or espresso, then stir gently. If you like, add vanilla syrup and stir once more. Serve immediately and enjoy the bright fizz.
