If you can wrap garland around a wreath base, you can make this boxwood wreath. This is the easiest boxwood wreath tutorial to create a gorgeous holiday wreath!

Boxwood wreaths are my favorite for the holidays. When we lived in California we had living boxwood shrubs and I used to make wreaths from them. They were beautiful, though they rarely lasted more than a season. These days I prefer using artificial garland for a full, long-lasting wreath that requires far less maintenance.

The finished wreath is delightfully full and fluffy. I used two narrow boxwood garlands and a simple wire base—what looks sparse to the eye when the garlands are separate becomes lush once they are wrapped tightly around the form. I ordered my supplies from Oriental Trading, including checked ribbon that I love. Affordable ribbon makes it easy to swap bows for different seasons.

The bow on this wreath is simply tied on, not glued, so it’s easy to swap for another ribbon or remove entirely for a different look in spring and summer.

I also like adding a small sign or ornament in the center of the wreath; it’s an easy way to change the style by season without rebuilding the whole wreath.

This wreath took about ten minutes to assemble. It’s a quick project that yields a professional-looking, full 18″ wreath that’s perfect on a front door or entryway and pairs nicely with other seasonal decor like topiaries.
How To Make the Easiest Boxwood Wreath

Supplies
1 18″ wire wreath form
2 boxwood garlands
Optional: boxwood picks
Checked ribbon (or any ribbon you prefer)
Floral wire
Jute or twine for hanging

Instructions
- Locate the end of one garland and secure it to the wire wreath form by wrapping it around one of the wires so it stays in place.
- Wrap the garland evenly and snugly around the form, pushing the greenery close together to eliminate gaps and create a full look.
- When the first garland ends, overlap its end with the start of the second garland and twist the stems together. For extra security, reinforce the join with a twist tie or a short length of floral wire.
- Continue wrapping until you return to the starting point, using both garlands completely to build a thick layer of foliage.

- Secure the final end by wrapping a short piece of floral wire around it and twisting the wire tight onto the base so nothing comes loose.

- Tuck any optional picks or accents into the wreath, adjusting them until the arrangement looks balanced and natural.

- Tie a loop of jute or twine on the back for hanging.
- Cut a long length of ribbon and tie it into a bow on the front of the wreath or at the top, depending on your preferred style.

The result is a thick, lush 18″ boxwood wreath that looks custom and full. Pre-made faux wreaths are available for varying prices, but wrapping your own garlands around a wire form delivers a denser, more tailored finish for a small investment of time.
