Welcome to week six of the Tomato Love Recipe Exchange — and this week’s theme is pizza! To celebrate, we’re sharing a Shrimp Fra Diavolo Pizza that adapts a favorite shrimp fra diavolo pasta into a vibrant, fresh pizza topped with grape tomatoes, basil, and perfectly cooked shrimp. The result is spicy, bright, and full of flavor, with a heat level you can easily adjust to taste.
I tested this recipe with fresh grape tomatoes and basil from the market and used a wonderful pizza kit that made the process especially fun. Instead of crushing the tomatoes into a sauce, I halved them and let them reduce slightly with wine, garlic, and aromatics before spreading them over the cheese. The shrimp are quickly seared first so they stay tender and juicy on the pizza. With the ingredients below the heat is fairly mild but still lively — increase the red pepper flakes if you prefer more spice.
Below you’ll find the full recipe. If you want to enter our pizza-themed giveaway, read the participation details further down — this week’s prize is a 7-piece Pro Premium Pizza Making Kit from Pizza Home Chef.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo Pizza
20 minutes
12 minutes
32 minutes
1 pizza
Ingredients
- 1 medium pizza dough, homemade or storebought
- 1/4 cup (4 Tbsp.) olive oil, divided
- 1 lb. large uncooked shrimp, peeled and deveined
- Pinch of salt and black pepper
- 5 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 cup dry white or red wine
- 2 cups grape tomatoes, halved
- 1 tsp crushed red pepper flakes (adjust to taste)
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup fresh basil, chopped
- Grated Parmesan cheese, for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven (and baking stone if using) to 425°F.
- Heat 1 Tbsp. oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Season shrimp with salt and pepper and add to the skillet. Sauté for about 1 minute, flip, and cook just until seared on both sides. Transfer shrimp to a plate and set aside.
- Add 2 Tbsp. oil to the skillet. Sauté the sliced onion until translucent, about 5 minutes. Add the garlic and cook 1 minute. Pour in the wine and deglaze the pan for 1 minute. Add the halved grape tomatoes, crushed red pepper, and oregano. Reduce heat to medium-low and simmer 10–15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the tomato mixture has reduced. Remove from heat.
- Brush or mist the top of the pizza crust with the remaining 1 Tbsp. oil. Sprinkle half of the mozzarella evenly over the crust, leaving a 1-inch border. Spread the tomato mixture atop the cheese, arrange the seared shrimp in an even layer, and cover with the remaining mozzarella.
- Bake about 10–12 minutes, or until the dough has risen and the cheese is melted and bubbly. Remove from the oven and garnish with chopped fresh basil and grated Parmesan. Serve immediately.
