🥘 Ingredients

Ingredients for boursin pasta.

Garlic and Herb Boursin Cheese – the creamy base for the sauce. Its blend of cream, garlic and herbs melts into a smooth, flavourful sauce.

Smoked Bacon – provides a savoury, smoky contrast that pairs perfectly with the creamy cheese.

Garlic – adds depth and aroma to the sauce.

Parsley – a fresh garnish to brighten the dish.

Italian hard cheese – Parmesan or Grana Padano adds a nutty, salty finish.

🔪 Instructions

The recipe card at the bottom lists ingredient quantities and the full step-by-step instructions.

One: Bring a pan of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to the packet. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining.

Two: Meanwhile, heat a little olive oil in a frying pan and cook the chopped smoked bacon and chopped garlic until the bacon is crisp.

Three: Add the Boursin cheese and half a cup of the reserved pasta water to the pan. Stir until the cheese melts and forms a sauce.

Four: Add more pasta water, a little at a time, until you reach your preferred sauce consistency.

Five: Toss the drained pasta into the sauce, then stir in chopped parsley and grated hard cheese. Season to taste and serve immediately.

Top tips

  • Use a large pot of well-salted water to cook the pasta—this seasons the pasta from the inside out.
  • Reserve starchy pasta water to loosen and emulsify the sauce so it clings to the pasta.
  • Add a pinch of red pepper flakes for heat, or finish with cracked black pepper and extra fresh herbs like basil or oregano.

🍴 Serving suggestions

Pair this Boursin pasta with a peppery rocket salad or green sides such as roasted Tenderstem broccoli or air-fryer asparagus. For a heartier meal, add garlic-butter chicken strips and serve with pesto focaccia.

📖 Variations

  • Vegetarian: omit the bacon and add sun-dried tomatoes, sliced mushrooms and toasted pine nuts for texture and flavour.
  • Lighten it up: stir in peas, sweetcorn or baby spinach for extra vegetables.
  • Extra flavour: cook finely chopped red onion with the garlic for sweetness.
  • Cheese swaps: try soft goat cheese or a mild blue cheese if you don’t have Boursin—flavour will vary.
  • Make it substantial: add leftover roast chicken, prawns or salmon to boost protein.

🥡 Storage

Serve Boursin pasta hot for best texture. If you have leftovers, divide into portions and garnish when serving.

Store: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container for 3–4 days. The sauce may thicken; add a splash of milk or cream when reheating to loosen it. Reheat gently on the hob or in short bursts in the microwave.

Freeze: You can freeze portions for up to 2–3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge, then reheat with a little liquid to restore creaminess.
