Make these homemade pizza rolls and take the sketch out of snack time! Crispy baked wonton wrappers are the perfect base for bite-sized pizza poppers.

Growing up my parents worked long hours and our freezer was often stocked with convenience snacks like Bagel Bites and frozen pizza rolls. Those nostalgia-triggering commercials still pop up everywhere, but I’ve long preferred making cleaner, homemade versions.
These pizza rolls ditch the mystery ingredients found in many processed products. Instead they rely on simple pantry items and fresh cheese, so you know exactly what you’re feeding your family.

On with the recipe!
I adapted this idea from a skinny pizza wonton recipe and realized wonton wrappers are the fastest, crispiest way to get delicious, bite-sized pizza flavor. I almost always keep wontons on hand for speedy snacks, and they’re incredibly versatile.
If you try these, don’t be surprised if you end up loving wonton wrappers as much as I do — they make snack prep ridiculously easy.
Homemade Pizza Rolls
These cheesy homemade pizza rolls are a total home-run snack. Make them as sealed pizza roll pockets or skip the folding and make deep-dish wonton cups for an extra-saucy option. Both are fast, kid-friendly, and freeze well.

Ingredients
- 24 wonton wrappers
- ¾ cup pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce
- ½-¾ cup freshly grated cheese (parmesan and/or mozzarella)
- ¼ cup diced pepperoni (turkey, regular, or veggie)
- 2-3 TBSP diced mushrooms
- ¼ tsp garlic powder
- salt and pepper to taste
- red pepper flakes optional topping for a little spice
TOPPING INSPO
- Get creative! Take your favorite pizza toppings and go nuts.
- Try Hawaiian style, meat lover’s, veggie lovers, or any toppings you adore
Instructions
-
Preheat oven to 375°F. Line a baking sheet with a wire baking/cooling rack.
-
If you like mushrooms, sauté a handful of chopped mushrooms with a minced clove of garlic in a little olive oil. Or swap for diced peppers, onions, or cooked Italian sausage.
-
Lay wonton wrappers flat on a cutting board.
-
You can assemble each wonton individually or mix the filling in a bowl and scoop about a tablespoon onto each wrapper.
-
Aim for roughly one tablespoon of filling per wonton. Overfilling can cause the filling to leak during baking.
-
Dip a finger in a small cup of water and run it along two adjacent edges of the wrapper, then press closed to seal.
-
Repeat for each wonton.
-
Place sealed triangles on the wire rack, then lightly spray each side with cooking spray or brush with oil.
-
Bake at 375°F for 8–10 minutes, until golden and crisp.
-
Optional: sprinkle with grated Parmesan or brush with garlic butter before serving for extra flavor.
-
Prefer extra sauce or want to skip folding? Make deep-dish wonton cups in a mini muffin tin (instructions below).

Hello deep-dish pizza cups!
To make deep-dish pizza cups with more filling, spray a mini muffin pan with oil and press a wonton square into each cavity. Fill with sauce, cheese, and toppings, then bake at 375°F for about 8 minutes or until golden.
If you only have a standard muffin pan, try overlapping two wonton squares to form each cup.

Put a spin on it!
Try Hawaiian-style pizza rolls with ham, cheese, and pineapple, or go veggie-forward with spinach and feta. The deep-dish cups are especially great when you want more sauce and toppings.
UPDATE: These freeze beautifully
Prep and freeze the assembled, unbaked pizza rolls on a flat baking sheet until firm, then transfer to a freezer bag for storage. To reheat, bake from frozen on a wire rack at 365°F for 7–9 minutes until heated through and crisp.
